distinctive wines which have established the valley as a world renowned appellation.

Simon and Baker - International travel review
"The marvellous setting, well cooked meal, and lovingly presented dishes paired with wines made onsite were a treat, leading to one of the best lunches I had that trip."

Candice Bressler - A Gorgeous Life
"It was an elegant and refined dining experience, with fantastic wines and both of us absolutely loving two out of three courses. I’d be keen to return and try the rustic menu, as it would be interesting to compare the dishes and prices points. Regardless, we’ll be back."

The Wine

Brad Paton

The industry’s body VinPro said "South Africa’s wine-grape crop will probably be the smallest since 2011 after El Nino caused excess heat and dry weather."

We chatted to talented winemaker Brad Paton to find out how the harvest went and the latest news on Buitenverwachting’s wines; he said "Although the country was in a drought Buiten’s were fine because of ground water. We don’t water but Buitenverwachting is blessed with good underground water." He said that it was a pleasant vintage, the grapes and the vines were in good condition.

"There were some heat waves but not too bad, the conditions were excellent and the crops were on a par with the 2015 crops which were good."

Brad believes 2016 is an exciting year for the wines.
