WINE TASTING
The Wine Tasting experience is housed in the historic wine cellar with it’s traditional thatched roof, white washed walls and rare yellow-wood ceilings. The interior is casual, generously furnished with leather couches, small lounges and a tasting bar.
The stone tiled terrace overlooks the lawns and magnificent 250 year old Norfolk Pine. Casual charcuterie platters with fresh baguettes are available as well as an artisan ale to cleanse your pallet.
Many visitors linger for hours and choose to purchase a bottle and relax on the lawns with friends and family.
All wines are offered for tasting at a fee of R 150,00 for 5 Wines

The front of the building offers a terrace overlooking the lawns and historic buildings, while the lounge terrace connects with the vineyards and offers views towards the Constantia mountains.

Tastings are guided by our friendly and knowledgeable tasting room staff. Our boutique wine experience is a selection of five wines for only R100pp. Make sure to include the Maximus and the G limited release wines. Also you can’t go wrong with the Hussey’s Vlei, an elegant Sauvignon Blanc that is certainly a Buitenverwachting favourite. Feeling hungry, try one of our delicious varieties of charcuterie platters that are all homemade by our amazing kitchen staff.
Situated in the historic core of Buitenverwachting, overlooking the magnificent 250 year old Norfolk Pine, sprawling lawns and surrounding original Cape Dutch farm buildings, Buitenverwachting has one of the most beautiful picnic settings in Cape Town and is worth a visit. Book a table at our wine tasting room or order the delicious platters from the tasting room, find a spot on our beautiful lawns to eat, drink and enjoy the summer sun. Platters on the lawn works on a first come first served basis, so be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Savour your selection with only the best quality charcuterie, cheeses, bread, tapenades, jams, and other deliciousness! A must try is our homemade feta, olive & sundried tomato tapenade. All our pâtés and tapenades are homemade by our amazing kitchen staff. It truly is the perfect place to come and spend quality time with your family and friends. Don’t forget to bring your own picnic blanket and camp chairs but please note that NO self-catering is allowed.
